Will not work on stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper,
bronze or non-ferrous metal's. Placing a symbol inside of a recessed pommel must
be determined if possible before a commission is placed. Depth, size &
smoothness of metal will be the top factor's. Bluing cannot be placed on steel
that is non-smooth, pitted, or otherwise a 'rough' surface.
Lastly, bluing is susceptible to degradation, fading and scratching over time.
However, if properly maintained, it could last the lifetime of the blade. It
will however fade, or even be removed entirely if a break-free type oil is
applied directly onto the bluing. It is recommended to use a machine oil (3 in 1
for example) to maintain the bluing. | |
